2012 RHS Chelsea Show Gardens Confirmed

Design for The M&G Garden

18 show gardens have been shortlisted for the 2012 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The M & G Garden designed by Andy Sturgeon
Top garden designer Andy Sturgeon creates a garden in 2012for the show's sponsors. Country garden plants, natural materials and traditional craftsmanship will compliment a dynamic copper sculpture that will plunge through the garden.

The Daily Telegraph Garden designed by Sarah Price
Sarah Price will aim to encourage visitors to the show to think about how horticulture and garden design are directly linked to the natural world. Natural stone and atmospheric planting will be used to emphasise the point.

The Ripple Effect by World Vision designed by Flemons Warland Design Ltd
This garden will aim to reflect the work of the sponsor; World Vision. Ripples spreading from the centre of a pool in this garden will represent how World Vision's work with children spreads and has a positive impact on families, communities and, ultimately, entire countries.

The Arthritis Research UK Garden designed by Tom Hoblyn
The great Renaissance gardens of Italy will be the inspiration for this design by Tom Hoblyn. Tom combines his passion for creative planting with the drama, formaility and beauty of the historic Italian gardens.

The Laurent-Perrier Bicentenary Garden designed by Arne Maynard
After a break of more than 10 years, this Chelsea veteran's return to the show will be eagerly anticipated. The design will mix traditional and contemporary elements with the finished article being an ornanmental garden that portrays timeless elegance.

Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s Nurseries
This garden will be luxurious and modern and will emphasise and celebrate the Australian passion for outdoor living.

Furzey Gardens designed by Chris Beardshaw
Furzey Gardens in Hampshire will be 90 years old in 2012. Chris Beardshaw celebrates the anniversary by designing a garden using rhododendrons, thatched structures and reclaimed timber; all well known characteristics of the Hampshire garden.

The Brewin Dolphin Garden designed by Cleve West
Last year's designer of the Best Show Garden returns, this time with a garden emphasising the popularity of topiary in garden design. Formal, controlled shapes will be contrasted and complimented by less formal herbaceous plants.

The Homebase Garden designed by Joe Swift
BBC Gardener's World presenter Joe Swift's garden will be a low maintenance, drought tolerant design. Space will be energised by the use of plants and natural materials.

Nature & the City designed by Laurie Chetwood and Patrick Collins sponsored by British Land PLC
This garden will demonstrate how architecture and nature can combine and coexist to create an environment in which people can live and work.

A Rural Muse designed by Adam Frost sponsored by Lands End
Adam Frost has designed a garden for a couple who have been inspired by their local environment, especially the walks of the famous peasant poet, John Clare.

The L’Occitane Garden designed by Peter Dowle
A single storey, simple rustic building complete with an artisan pergola will be the centrepiece of this garden design. The cultivated lowlands of Corsica are the setting with the aim of demonstrating the close relationship between man and horticulture in the region.

The RBC Blue Water Garden designed by Nigel Dunnett and the Landscape Agency
After the drought like conditons experienced in some parts of the country this year this garden should prove popular. A selection of water conservation features and wildlife friendly elements will be included in this garden that has been designed as a private enclosed space.

RNIB Garden ‘Living with Sight Loss’ designed by Paul Hervey-Brookes
A quiet courtyard garden, this design is for one of the RNIB's specialist centres. A place to relax with friends or family.

Air by Aralia ‘Rooftop Technology Meets Tranquillity’ designed by Patricia Fox
An excting concept this one, an extension to the modern office utilising unused 'roof top space' adjacent to and above urban offices. Maybe it will catch on and offer a part solution to work related stress. A place for staff to temporarily escape the pressures of the modern office.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, from Tuesday May 22 – Saturday May 26, 2012.
