This evergreen shrub has thick, leathery, rounded leaves that are variegated green and cream. It is primarily grown for it’s foliage, the flowers are small and insignificant. Griselinia littoralis ‘Variegata’ does however produce purple fruits after the flowers. It is a dioecious plant, meaning that male and female flowers grow on separate plants. To obtain the fruit, it is therefore necessary to grow a specimen of each sex in the vicinity. This plant is a good choice for an evergreen hedge.
