Although the latin name of this plant suggests that it is an annual it often lives for two years, making it a biennial. Lunaria annua has heart shaped green leaves that are toothed around the edges. In early summer , Lunaria annua produces flowers that can be shades of pink, white or purple. The flowers are followed by translucent, disk like, round seed pods that are often used in flower arrangements. Lunaria annua self-seeds freely.
