Large (up to 15cm across) double white flowers that have a pale pink flush when they first appear top sturdy stems in late spring and early summer. The slightly scented flowers are exquisitely formed - the outer petals large and flattened while the long thin inner petals are densely packed. It is an excellent specimen plant for a sunny border and should be protected from cold drying winds.

  • Garden care: Deadhead after flowering. In early spring apply a top-dressing of a balanced slow release fertiliser around the base of the plant and mulch well with well rotted garden compost or manure. The older stems of tree peonies have a tendency to become brittle and snap so cut these back to the ground in autumn every two or three years.
