A variable plant with semi-evergreen bronze-tinted green foliage that steadily creeps along the ground forming an attractive carpet. In summer upright slightly arching stems emerge from the mound of foliage bearing tiny green flowers that have pink edged petals. This plant will thrive in reasonably moist soil in partial shade but becomes more tolerant of drought and sun once established. Plant it towards the front of a shady border or throughout a woodland floor underplanted with spring flowering bulbs for great effect.

  • Garden care: Remove the faded flower spikes once the plant has finished flowering. Lift and divide congested colonies in spring and apply a generous mulch of well-rotted garden compost or compost leaf mould around the base of the plant.
