Vibrant red flowers that flare out at their lobed tips to show five prominent stamens and just a hint of white inside the throat are produced throughout summer. They look splendid when planted in bold drifts through a 'hot' themed border and associate well with grasses in prairie-style planting schemes.

  • Garden care: Remove the faded blooms regularly to prolong flowering. Cut back and compost the spent flower stems in autumn and apply a dry mulch around the crown of the plant to protect against frost damage.
