A really pretty herbaceous peony. Bright red single cup-shaped flowers in spring are set in a ruff of finely cut ferny leaves. This is earlier flowering and more compact than most peonies but even after the flowers have faded the foliage looks delightful so plant it near the front of a sunny border where the delicate leaves can be appreciated.

  • Garden care: In early spring apply a top-dressing of a balanced slow release fertiliser around the base of the plant and mulch well with well rotted garden compost or manure.
