Dazzling dense heads of star shaped orange scarlet flowers on stiff stems in early and mid summer and mid green leaves. Jerusalem cross is an ideal tall plant for a moist well-drained sunny border based on 'hot' colours. As long as the spent blooms are cut back after flowering it will produce a second flush of flowers in late-summer.

  • Garden care: Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost around the base of the plant in early-spring. Cut back the faded flowerheads in late autumn.

  • Goes well with: Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum', Deschampsia caespitosa, Veronicastrum virginicum f. album, Persicaria bistorta 'Superba', Aster x frikartii 'Monch', Verbena bonariensis.
