  • Other features: often has a second crop of fruit

Because of its high yields and ability to produce a second crop of strawberries after a hot summer this is often grown as a commercial crop. It is a well established variety that has been around for many years. It has a high resistance to disease and produces large bright red fruits that have a delicious and very sweet taste in mid June to mid July - the subsequent crop may appear in September.

  • Garden care: Prepare the ground well before planting. Clear all the weeds and apply a generous amount of well-rotted manure. When the strawberries are staring to form put a thick layer of straw or use strawberry mats under the plants to stop the fruit touching the soil. Sheets of black plastic mulch can also be used and it will also help retain soil moisture, reduce weeds and encourage early cropping. Strawberries can also be planted in tubs, containers and hanging baskets
