A firm favourite for generations, this outstanding crisphead variety is a classic and the one to choose for big beefy prizewinning lettuces. Extremely reliable and slow to bolt, even in warmer weather it hearts up to form huge solid heads the size of small cabbages. The leaves are delicate, crisp and very crunchy with a deliciously fresh flavour.

  • Growing Instructions: Sow into trays or modules in the greenhouse or on a windowsill and harden off before planting out. Or sow direct in shallow drills where they are to grow, either in containers or in the open ground, thinning seedlings to 15cm apart. Protect from slugs and cover early sowings with a cloche. Lettuce become limp in full sunlight so choose a spot in light shade and keep the soil well-watered to keep them crisp and crunchy.
