Open bell-shaped white flowers each with purple-pink veining that becomes more pronounced around the outer edges are seen from midsummer to late autumn. Ideal for covering a pergola or arch it also does well in large pots or containers filled with John Innes No 2 compost as long as it is kept well fed and watered.

  • Garden care: In early spring cut back the previous year's stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground-level and apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant avoiding the immediate crown.
