This perennial bulbous plant is native to South Africa. It is surprisingly hardy though and will easily survive U.K. winters, especially if planted at the base of a warm, sunny wall. Nerine bowdenii has long, strap-like leaves, these begin to wither just before the flowers begin to emerge. In autumn, bright pink flowers are produced on tall flower stalks. The flowers keep well and are suitable for cutting.
