This bearded Iris produces pale lilac, scented flowers with yellow beards. The broad, light bluish-green leaves are much shorter than the flower stalks. The example pictured was photographed growing happily in heavy clay, permanently damp soil; showing that it is not always necessary to follow the conventional advice when growing Iris, which often suggests only well drained soil is suitable.
