An unusual large arum lily with huge arrow-shaped, glossy dark green leaves. In early summer dramatic white spathes (flowers) up to 20cm  across splashed with bright green and edged with a frill rise above the foliage. This plant particularly loves moist shade and rich soil making a striking architectural statement at the edge of a pond or a boggy bank. Its roots can be suberged in water and it can be left outside in most frost-prone areas if it is given a deep winter mulch.

  • Garden care: Grow in moist soil or as a marginal plant in a basket with heavy loam soil in water 30cm (12in) deep. Mulch plants with manure or garden compost in winter.
