This bearded Iris produces pale lilac, scented flowers with yellow beards. The broad, light bluish-green leaves have golden-yellow stripes and are much shorter than the flower stalks. It is not always necessary to follow the conventional advice when growing Iris; which often suggests only well drained soil is suitable. Iris pallida ‘Aurea Variegata’ can be found growing happily in heavy clay soil.
