This vigorous climbing plant has dark green, slender leaves. It produces modified leaves called tendrils to twine around the provided support. Passiflora caerulea can be deciduous or evergreen, depending on which part of the U.K. it is grown in. It will hold on to it’s leaves in milder parts of the country and if offered some protection from cold, drying winds. Interesting white flowers are produced in summer, they have blue-purple coronas. The precise structure of the flower gives them an almost mechanical appearance. Orange-yellow fruits follow the flowers in autumn, but they rarely ripen outdoors in the U.K.
