This perennial plant spreads by underground rhizomes (swollen stems). The leaves are arrow-shaped and dark green. In mild areas the leaves might be retained over the winter period. During late spring and early summer pure white spathes are produced, they surround a yellow coloured spadix. Use a mulch to protect the crown of Zantedeschia aethiopica during the winter months.
