This hardy annual has finely-divided, feathery foliage. Bright blue, semi-double flowers are produced in summer. Swollen seed-pods follow the flowers. Nigella damascena ‘Miss Jekyll’ self seeds freely. The common name ‘Love-in-a-mist’ probably refers to how the flowers can become hidden amongst the finely cut foliage.
