How many stems are in the pot? Or is it 12 individual plants each with their own root system?

hi there,
this looks like 12 individual plant stems in a root ball mass, im concerned that if i try to split the plant wont survive, B&Q sell this bay plant like this 12 squashed in a pot

Hello again,

I think I would leave them be, as each individual stem might just be newly rooted in which case I would leave them to establish and avoid disturbing them.
