Compost from domestic waste

Postby Skating Queen » 22 Oct 2009 19:18

Our local council is practically giving away compost it's made from domestic garden waste.

Is this recommended for growing veggies?, or is it disease ridden?

Thankyou.

Hello Joanne,

Recycled garden compost supplied by local authorites is simply the product of garden waste collections. I for example fill up my green bin with garden waste and it gets collected once per fortnight.
I see no problem with growing fruit and vegetables in this compost although personally I think I would use it as a conditioner to improve the garden soil I already have.
